Our Advent series this year: “While We’re Waiting.” Each week we’ll journey through the stories of those who waited—Zechariah and Elizabeth, Herod, the Magi, the shepherds, Mary and Joseph—and what their waiting reveals about our own. I believe these messages will help us rediscover hope, peace, joy, and love—not just for a season, but for the life ahead. "While We’re Waiting…" An Advent + Christmas Eve Sermon Series.


  Let’s be honest—this season moves fast. The lists are long. The programs are packed. Somewhere in the rush, we forget what we’re even rushing toward.

But Advent invites us to pause. To ask: What are we really waiting for?
And maybe even: Who are we becoming while we wait? Each week, we’ll walk with people who waited: Zechariah and Elizabeth in silence. Herod in fear.
The Magi in wonder. The Shepherds in the ordinary. And on Christmas Eve, Mary and Joseph—in the middle of a mess, where God showed up anyway.

Maybe you’ll see your story in theirs. Maybe you’ve been praying like Zechariah… searching like the Magi… or just trying to get through the day like Mary and Joseph. And then—God shows up. Not when you expect it. But right where you are. Even in a gas station line. (We’ll talk about that one Christmas Eve.)

 

That’s Advent. God interrupting the rush. God showing up in the waiting. Not empty—but full of promise.

 

Maybe we will find that the One we’re waiting for has already come.
